Brinjal is important vegetable in India. It is one of the cash crops for the farmers. Brinjal fruit and shoot borer (BSFB) or Leucinodes orbonalis is a serious threat to brinjal crop. It damages the brinjal crop yield up to 60-70 %. Larva is the damaging stage of BSFB initiates damage at the seedling stage and continues till fruit harvesting. Larva bores into the petioles and midrib of large leaves and young shoots, during the initial stage of the crop and further causes withering of terminal shoots. Later, in fruit formation, the larva bores into the flower buds and fruits through the calyx. Affected fruits get rotten from the inside and fruits lose their economic value.

We have developed ‘Pheromone Tablet Technology’ for BSFB. It is IPM (integrated pest management) based technology; that ensures the minimal use of chemical pesticides and effective control of BSFB pests. It is safe, effective, and environmentally friendly. It does not leave toxic residues on the leaves and fruits of brinjal crop.
